Parents: Elberta Elementary, Elberta Middle, Elberta High, Summerdale School
Parents,
Please read this email carefully, as there have been major changes since our first notice went out. After many conversations and much consideration, we have decided to delay redistricting for much of Elberta. The only school that will see redistricting moves for next school year is Summerdale School. If your child attends one of those two schools, please look at the updated map linked below. We will still have a public meeting to discuss Summerdale, but since Elberta is no longer involved in this, we have also made a location change for the meeting. Again, there are no plans at this time to redistrict any Elberta Elementary students.
On a side note, I want to say redistricting is never fun. It’s never something we want to do, but it is something we must do. We have done it plenty of times before, and as our county continues to grow, we will have to do it again. Please know we do this for our students so our class sizes remain small and our campuses won’t get overwhelmed.
I want to extend a big thank-you to Board Member Jason Woerner who heard from you and brought that information to me. He and Assistant Superintendent Joe Sharp have worked tirelessly to make this right for everyone. The reason we have these meetings is to hear from you and make changes before we bring it before the board. We appreciate everyone who has emailed, called or come to us. Being able to talk these things out rationally is what makes our county great.
Please see the updated information below.
